Welcome to the International Journal of Heart Rhythm (IJHR), a newly minted international journal addressing heart rhythm disorders and their diagnosis and treatments. On behalf of the sponsoring institution and the excellent Editorial Board and staff, I would like to welcome the creation of this journal, which aims to provide the electrophysiology community with an international forum to discuss advancements and clinical findings in electrophysiology and treatment of arrhythmia. We are confident that the IJHR will have a firm presence in the global EP field, being supported by China National Center for Cardiovascular Diseases, by the world renowned medical publisher Wolters Kluwer Medknow, and by the leadership of our international editorial team. We believe that, with the publication of clinical and basic science articles, the journal will become an outstanding resource for education and innovation in electrophysiology and pacing.
Establishing the IJHR in China is an undertaking both necessary and exciting, as the journal's publication of papers on advanced EP knowledge and cutting-edge patient care will bridge the gap in clinical practices between emerging countries and advanced countries. Growing adoption of interventional arrhythmia treatments has been observed in many Asia-Pacific countries and regions. However, there is still significant lag in innovative practice in Asia. In addition, many scientific unknowns of heart rhythm disorders await investigation in patients of emerging countries. Further still, the heavy burden of arrhythmia disorders in China represents an urgent need to find a more efficient way to improve clinical practice and research.
The editorial team, with support from high-quality international journals in the field of arrhythmias, had previously established the Journal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Chinese Edition, the Journal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology China Supplement (2012), and the Heart Rhythm Chinese Edition, the experience of which will no doubt be of great benefit to the current endeavor. The IJHR shall be a peer-reviewed journal that provides a collection of original investigational manuscripts, invited papers, and editorial comments in the fields of electrophysiology. The content will primarily be divided into four parts: clinical cardiology, basic and experimental electrophysiology, clinical electrophysiology and ablation, and device therapies. The acceptance standard will be adequately elevated as to develop the newly created IJHR into a high-profile journal.
I truly hope that cardiac electrophysiologists and associate professionals will find the IJHR to be a wellspring of high-quality, cutting-edge knowledge; a platform from which the highest levels of arrhythmias and electrophysiology science can be reached; a home for innovative electrophysiology and arrhythmias research. I would like to extend a standing invitation to all of you to join the IJHR team and myself, whether it be as a reader, a reviewer, or an author, and embark together on this new and exciting journal.
